POLICIES

SOA provides this list of policies for items not covered in the bylaws.

MEMBERSHIP:

Member information is NOT shared with ANYONE without said member's express approval. Policy since SOA's inception, and reinforced by membership vote in 2005.

A signed membership renewal form is required at the beginning of each year; SOA does not accept payment for multiple years of dues at any given time. Policy since 2005, due to change in membership form which references the Code of Ethics.

Members listed on the Breeders Pages will be removed from these pages if dues are not paid by March 31 of the current year. Policy voted and agreed upon Feb 15, 2006.

Farm Manager Members: This is a case-by-case situation, and allowed only upon approval by the Board of Directors. Upon approval, an application form will be sent to the Farm Manager. Further information can be found in Bylaw 4.2f Policy voted and agreed upon Feb 15, 2006.

Linking to Websites: It has never been the intention of SOA to link to websites that compete with, or appear to compete with SOA. The Board of Directors voted in favor of continuing this policy on May 31, 2006.

LISTING SHEEP FOR SALE:

Any sheep listed for sale on the SSINA list (Soay Sheep In North America) and the SOA Message Board must be registered with SOA. Policies voted and agreed upon Feb 15, 2006, and April 5, 2006.

PAPERWORK:

Applications, Registrations, Transfers and Membership forms are not processed when presented incomplete or inaccurate. Policy since Oct 2003.

Acceptance of Transfers and Registration Applications from FORMER members of SOA (who have not renewed membership), with a Registration Application set at $40 and a Transfer to cost $35. The Board of Directors voted in favor of this policy on May 31, 2006.

WHAT'S IN A NAME?

Soay sheep, American Soay sheep, Soays of America and British Soay sheep are the terms recognized by SOA for the sheep we are conserving. Policy voted and agreed upon April 5, 2006. See Bylaw 2.1.
