But even more important than the economic reasons, keeping your sheep registered helps conserve the breed by documenting lineages and assisting you and other breeders in determining which bloodlines to introduce into a flock. A flockbook enables owners of Soay sheep to locate flocks nearby, and helps to find sheep unrelated to their own flock. An up to date flockbook is expected shortly after the first of the year.
